Hello soccer families,
I'm very sorry to do this but I am postponing the start of soccer by one week. Instead of starting tomorrow, Tuesday June 13th, it will instead start Tuesday June 20th. We will add an extra week on the end of the season to keep the 10 week schedule.
In the 7 summers since I took over running the club this is the first year I've had to delay the start, but I've been unwell the past couple of days and wasn't able to finish set up for opening night. I also don't want to risk giving my tummy bug to the U5 kids that I'll be coaching.
Additional messages
Coaches: I have your coach packets of drills and whistles, and will also send you the same drills electronically. I've arranged for a spare key in a lock box later this week, so starting next week any of you will be able to open up if I'm not around to do it.
U9s: You have a home game just announced for this Wednesday, I'm going to request it be rescheduled as I may not be well enough to set up the field and referee it.
U7s: You guys are all set to have a great season. Please introduce yourself to head coach Karen if you're willing/able to help with the kids in your U7 group.
U5s: I haven't had any parents volunteer to help with this group. I'm happy to coach the entire group (once I'm over this stomach bug), as U5 is one of the most fun groups to coach and I've done it for years. However I could use a few parents standing at the corners to give the kids someone to run to during drills, direct wayward kids in the correct direction, etc. If you're willing to help please let me know or introduce yourself to me at soccer.
U3s: My 12 year-old daughter has volunteered to coach this group for a third year. She does a great job, but could really use help from adults to guide the kids. They like and listen to her, but she is only 12. If you're willing to help please let me know or introduce yourself to her at soccer.
Again, I'm sorry to be delaying the start of the season.
